Specifications

Before starting the Starter Package, you must already hold a full Category B (car) licence. This is the basic requirement for progressing into HGV training. Once you have your Category B licence, the Starter Package handles everything from your HGV medical and provisional entitlement application to booking your theory, hazard perception, and CPC exams, setting you up to begin practical training.

Requirements

Your Roadmap to a Class 1 HGV Licence:
Start with a Medical Check. First things first, you need a doctor to confirm you’re fit to drive a heavy goods vehicle.
You’ll complete this as part of your initial application.
Apply for Your Provisional Licence.
To begin training, you’ll need a provisional HGV entitlement added to your full car licence.
This involves sending off some forms, including your medical results.
Ace the Theory Tests. Just like your car test, there’s a theory portion.
You’ll need to pass both a multiple-choice exam and a hazard perception video test. Train with the Experts.
This is where your real learning begins! Enroll in a dedicated training course where experienced instructors will teach you everything—from safety checks and advanced manoeuvres to mastering road safety in a large vehicle.
Gain Your Professional Qualification (Driver CPC). To drive for a living, you’ll also work toward your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence.
