Refuse Collection Vehicle
➢ Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a refuse collection operator
➢ Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
➢ Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
➢ Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for refuse collection operator
➢ Conduct all pre-operational and running checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
➢ Manual handling specific to handling of waste containers
➢ Waste acceptance criteria
➢ Working with a crew
➢ Basic banksman signalling
➢ Health and hygiene
➢ Configure vehicle for travel
➢ Travelling on various terrain
➢ Operating in restricted areas
➢ Empty bins safely
➢ Depositing waste in landfill & transfer stations
➢ Carry out end of shift shut down procedures
