Cat D coach training prepares you to drive full-sized passenger coaches safely, confidently and to industry standards. This licence allows you to transport passengers on local, national or international routes, opening up career opportunities within the public transport and travel sectors. Training covers passenger safety, vehicle handling, route planning and legal responsibilities to ensure you’re fully prepared for professional coach driving. Requirements

  • Full Category B (car) licence — this is the starting point for all PCV training

  • Minimum age of 18 or 21 (depending on the route, employer requirements, and CPC regulations)

  • Medical examination to confirm fitness to drive passenger vehicles to DVLA standards

  • Provisional PCV entitlement added to your licence

  • PCV theory tests, including multiple-choice and hazard perception

  • Driver CPC qualification if driving professionally for hire or reward

  • Practical training and test in a Category D coach

Once qualified, you’ll be legally able to drive full-sized coaches and passenger vehicles for work, tourism, public transport, private hire, and more.
