Course Overview

Training at our centre emphasizes the technical "underpinning knowledge" required to operate high-speed cutting and breaking equipment. Candidates will learn to conduct thorough pre-operational checks, identify the correct consumables (such as blades or bits) for specific materials, and master safe starting and operating techniques. The curriculum also covers essential environmental and health considerations, including dust suppression, noise management, and vibration monitoring.
What You Will Learn
Upon successful completion, candidates will be competent in:
Legislation & Safety: Understanding responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER, and COSHH.
Tool Identification: Locating and identifying major components and explaining their functions for specific equipment.
Pre-Operational Checks: Conducting statutory inspections of housings, triggers, guards, and power sources.
Consumable Selection: Identifying and fitting the correct blades, discs, or bits relative to the machine and material.

Testing & Certification
Candidates must pass a theoretical multiple-choice exam and a practical assessment demonstrating safe setup and use of the equipment.
Upon successful completion, candidates will receive an NPORS card and certificate endorsing them for Handheld Equipment (N610).
