Handheld power tools—from disc cutters and road saws to drills and breakers—are essential on every site, yet they account for a high percentage of workplace injuries. Our NPORS Handheld Equipment (N610) course provides operators with the critical skills required to select, inspect, and use a variety of handheld tools safely. This training ensures full compliance with PUWER regulations and focuses on mitigating long-term health risks such as Vibration White Finger and hearing loss.

      Description

      Course Overview

Precision and safety are the hallmarks of a professional tool operator. This course is designed for individuals across the construction, landscaping, and maintenance sectors who utilize power tools in their daily duties.

Training at our centre emphasizes the technical "underpinning knowledge" required to operate high-speed cutting and breaking equipment. Candidates will learn to conduct thorough pre-operational checks, identify the correct consumables (such as blades or bits) for specific materials, and master safe starting and operating techniques. The curriculum also covers essential environmental and health considerations, including dust suppression, noise management, and vibration monitoring.

      What You Will Learn

Upon successful completion, candidates will be competent in:

Step 2: Pricing Strategy & Market Comparison (Training Centre Delivery)

The N610 is a high-volume, low-overhead course. With a generous 10:1 learner ratio, it is exceptionally profitable for your centre.

      Market Comparison:

      • Individual "Open Course" Price: Typically ranges from £125.00 to £195.00 + VAT per person.

      • Group Day Rate: Professional centers often charge between £600.00 and £850.00 + VAT for a dedicated group booking.

Recommended Pricing for Training Places UK:

      1. Individual "Open Course" Price: £150.00 + VAT

This is an excellent entry-level price for small contractors. Filling all 10 seats at your facility generates £1,500.00 for a single day of work with minimal machine wear.

      2. Corporate "Site Compliance" Booking (Up to 10 People): £850.00 + VAT

This is your most powerful B2B offer. It brings the cost per head down to £85.00 for the client, making it an easy "yes" for firms needing to get an entire crew qualified at once.

      3. The "HAVS Safety" Value Add Vibration monitoring is a major headache for employers.

      •

The Pitch: "We don't just teach them to pull the trigger; we teach them how to calculate their daily vibration limits to protect your business from future claims."

      • The Offer: Include a free "Vibration & Noise Awareness" handout for every attendee to add professional value that "test-only" providers ignore.

Upsell Strategy (The "Utility Protection" Bundle): Handheld equipment is often used to cut road surfaces or break concrete near services.

      • The Offer: Package the Handheld Equipment (N610) with Cable Avoidance Tools (N304) for a 2-day "Safe Street Works" block. This increases your total booking value and ensures the operative has all the tools needed to work safely around buried utilities.
