Description
Course Overview
Mastering a 360° excavator requires a sophisticated understanding of machine stability, hydraulic precision, and site-specific hazards. This course is designed to take learners from basic machine familiarisation to advanced operational competence.
Candidates will receive intensive hands-on training at our centre, learning to navigate varying terrain and execute complex excavating tasks in both open and confined areas. The curriculum covers critical safety protocols, including pre-operational checks, the safe use of quick hitch systems for fitting attachments, and the management of underground and overhead services to prevent site accidents.
What You Will Learn
Upon successful completion, candidates will be competent in:
Machine Operations: Locating and identifying major components, steering, driving, and braking controls.
Pre-Operational Safety: Conducting statutory checks in accordance with manufacturer and legislative requirements.
Manoeuvring: Safely moving and stopping the machine, and configuring it for travel across varying and rough terrain.
Excavating Tasks: Correctly configuring the machine for specific digging duties and executing precise excavations.
Material Handling: Safely loading material onto transporting vehicles or into containers.
Site Reinstatement: Grading and levelling ground to restore the area after excavation is complete.
Attachment Management: Safely fitting and removing various machine attachments.
Shutdown Procedures: Executing all end-of-shift and shutdown protocols to secure the machine.
Course Durations & Eligibility
Novice Duration: 10 Days.
Existing Untrained Operator: 2–5 Days (Depending on experience).
Refresher / Experienced Worker Tests (EWT): 1 Day.
Class Ratio: Maximum 3 Learners : 1 Instructor : 1 Machine.
Testing & Certification
Candidates must pass a theoretical multiple-choice exam and a rigorous practical assessment. The practical test requires demonstrating competence in machine setup, safe travel, excavation to specification, and vehicle loading.
Upon successful completion, candidates will receive an NPORS card and certificate endorsing them for Excavator 360° (N202).
