The industrial counterbalance forklift is the workhorse of the logistics, manufacturing, and construction sectors. Even for seasoned operators, complacency is the leading cause of FLT accidents and tip-overs. Our NPORS Industrial Forklift Truck (C001) Experienced Worker course is a targeted 1-day program designed to rigorously test, refresh, and re-certify existing operators. It ensures your workforce operates flawlessly under the strict guidelines of LOLER, PUWER, and the HSE’s L117 Code of Practice

Description
Course Overview
This course is strictly for experienced operators who have prior operational experience but require formal NPORS certification or a renewal of an expired ticket.
Delivered either at our purpose-built Huddersfield training facility or directly at your own depot using your familiar machinery, this intensive 1-day course blends advanced theoretical knowledge with strict practical assessment. Candidates will be assessed on their ability to configure the machine for travel, navigate confined areas safely, and execute complex lifting tasks while considering lateral and longitudinal stability. We also focus heavily on the critical hazards of loading and unloading external transport vehicles and working around ground personnel.
What You Will Learn
Upon successful completion, candidates will have proven their competency in:
Advanced Legislation: Understanding the legal responsibilities of the operator under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, PUWER, LOLER, and the L117 regulations.
Pre-Operational Precision: Conducting thorough daily checks on power units, hydraulic systems, masts, carriages, and fork arm attachments, including proper defect reporting.
Load Dynamics & Stability: Calculating load centres and centres of gravity, understanding the "see-saw" effect, and reading capacity/de-rating plates when using extension forks or attachments.
Manoeuvring & Confined Spaces: Safely executing 90° turns, pivoting, and travelling laden and unladen while maintaining perfect observation and visibility.
Stacking & Racking: Accurately stacking, de-stacking, and transferring loads at varying heights smoothly, adhering to SEMA code standards for racking condition.
External Transport: Safely loading and unloading external trailers, understanding vehicle capacities, weight distribution, undercutting hazards, and communicating effectively with HGV drivers.
Course Durations & Eligibility
Experienced Course Duration: 1 Day (Minimum 8 hours including assessment time).
Class Ratio (Experienced): Maximum 3 Learners : 1 Instructor : 1 Machine.
Note: Candidates must have prior documented experience operating an industrial forklift to attend this specific course duration.
Testing & Certification
Candidates are required to pass a strict NPORS theoretical examination and a highly scrutinized practical test. The practical test ensures they can safely maneuver, stack, and load external transport without compromising the stability of the machine or the safety of the work area.
Upon successful completion, candidates will receive an NPORS card and certificate endorsing them for Industrial Forklift Truck (C001).
