Crawler tractors and dozers are the powerhouses of large-scale earthmoving, but their massive size and power require highly skilled operators to ensure site safety and efficiency. Our NPORS Crawler - Tractor/Dozer (C215) course provides your operatives with the comprehensive knowledge and practical seat-time required to safely manoeuvre, excavate, and grade across varying terrains without compromising stability or risking collisions.

      Description

      Course Overview

Operating a dozer is about much more than pushing dirt. Operators must understand complex machine control systems, ground compaction, and the severe risks of working near edges, embankments, or underground services.

This intensive course ensures operators are fully compliant with PUWER and CDM regulations. Candidates will learn how to properly configure the dozer blade for different tasks (such as batter construction, ditching, and spreading), safely travel across steep inclines, and perform precise earthworks while managing environmental impacts like machine emissions.

      What You Will Learn

Upon successful completion, candidates will be competent in:

      • Machine Familiarisation: Locating and identifying the major components of the track frame, drive sprockets, and dozer blade, and understanding their functions.
      • Pre-Operational Checks: Conducting vital visual checks, checking oil levels, and performing routine adjustments in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
      • Safe Manoeuvring: Configuring the dozer for site travel, managing travel speeds to maintain stability, and navigating safely in restricted spaces.
      • Excavation & Earthmoving: Setting up for dozing duties, excavating in various ground types to given dimensions, and safely pushing materials.
      • Reinstatement: Grading, spreading, and levelling ground and materials accurately.
      • Hazard Management: Identifying underground/overhead services and adhering to safe working practices around site personnel and machinery.

      Course Durations & Eligibility

      • Novice Duration: Up to 10 Days (Depending on prior plant experience).
      • Class Ratio: Maximum 3 Learners : 1 Instructor : 1 Machine.
      • Experienced Worker Tests (EWT) and Refresher courses are also available.

      Testing & Certification

Candidates must pass a theoretical multiple-choice exam and a rigorous practical assessment. The practical test requires candidates to demonstrate safe pre-use checks, accurately excavate a trench, and successfully reinstate and level the ground within given tolerances.
